The town of Dolores may be small, but it’s well-worth spending some time in, tucked in a magnificent canyon with the picturesque Dolores River cutting along one side and rock cliffs on the other. The park's climate is also affected by the Continental Divide, which runs northwest to southeast through the center of the park atop the high peaks.
